mtv week 7

Buddy Holly & The Black tour- While reading this article I could not believe how detailed the instructions were that everyone had to follow. I thought it was kind of weird how it was pretty much spelled out how everyone was supposed to do everything. It did kind of confuse me exactly who this was being told to and who was the one giving the directions. I feel as if any other celebrity today were to come down with laryngitis and someone else had to sing for them, the concert would either get cancelled or the fans would not be accepting of someone else singing for them. I was completely shocked when I got to the part of how little his expenses were. To many of us I do not thing many would actually consider them expenses. Now I am not an expert on how much hotel rooms cost, but if I were to guess I would think today $76 would get you a dirty hotel room, not a whole week for four people. MTV's First Broadcast- Watching this video the first thing that came to my mind was, what happened to Music Television? Despite mine and other's addictions for reality TV, where is the music of MTV. Playing music videos at 4 am when no one is awake is not the definition of what my older brothers tell me MTV used to be about. The next thing I thought about was how surprising the lack of quality is. Yes I understand it was made in the 80's, but being born in '92 I am used to quality TV. It is also different to see how the videos appeared. Today many music videos seem to tell stories instead of being about the music like this video seemed to be. MTV Turns 10- Pop Goes the World- I would have to agree that MTV did bring about the importance of image, but I don't think I would agree with it being more important over sound. Without the music I do not really think that the videos would make that much sense and some of them would be sort of strange if you just saw the videos. I think seeing the music video's help explain the meanings of the songs because it helps explain the story the song was trying to tell. At the same time I have seen music videos that take the video in a total opposite direction than I thought the song was supposed to mean. With the idea that MTV brought out some racy music videos, I would put the blame more on the artist than MTV. Many stars like Miley Cyrus, have lost fans due to the racy video content they have unleashed.
