MTV

It was a very sad thing that I actually did not watch MTV as kid or really ever on a regular basis. My family had basic cable consisting of three channels and MTV was definitely not one of them. So i can not talk from experience of watching MTV because I probably have seen it a total of three times. Although I do hear a lot about it so I understand it somewhat. I do understand that MTV has changed drastically over the years, going from playing a lot more music more frequently to not playing music as much. That is upsetting because I love music a lot. It was also interesting to see the first video on MTV. Video Killed the radio star is a great song and i listen to it sometimes when my mp3 player is on shuffle. It is definitely a classic. That video though was so much different then how videos are made today. I thought it was neat to see the difference in quality, and the props and stuff they use to make the video. Another thing i thought was interesting was how they based things off of looks for most musicians. In my opinion i think that is very wrong because of the fact that music is mostly about sound. The definition of music being
an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color." Even though you can describe music in looks music is not all about looks. But sadly in today's society most things are about looks. All in all, MTV has definitely changed a lot over the years. I really wished I could have got it on my tv when i was younger... :(
