selling cool--last blog post

As a current high school student, I completely understand the importance of being cool. I agree completely with the introduction of the selling cool. Having the most up to date cell phone has been something that has been important at my school. I have always wondered, what makes a certain word cool or anything else cool? I think this goes back to like what we were talking about in class where advertisers bombard product advertisers use celebrities to sell their products. I thought it was interesting to read about the creation of Converse shoes and I can agree that today they are still very popular, but I have personally never owned a pair. I think it was interesting to read about coolhunting and how they do what they do. I wonder what a book would be like if they were to write a book and be able to write it without the footnotes all over the place. I agree with the fact that trends can change on a daily basis. One thing could be cool one day, but could be uncool the next day. I think that Nike add really says a lot. I have never seen that advertisement before, but I have heard how poorly the factory workers for Nike are treated overseas. Knowing that seeing that article would make me think twice about wearing Nike, despite how cool Nike is to many people. I thought it was interesting to hear about the start of hoodies. I am for sure glad that the hoodie was invented because I wear them so often I don't know what I would do without them. Overall, I found this article to be very interesting and very informative. Although I probably wouldn't use these "cool rules" in my daily life to become a cooler person.

  1. Yes - coolness is definitely transient (look it up).

    Enjoyable post.
